Islam

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful

In Cairo the muezzin calls faithful Muslims to prayer. It’s the same call that sounds 5 times a day everyday in cities across the world. Nearly a quarter of the people on Earth respond to it bound together by the enduring spirit of Islam.

God is Most Great

I testify that there is no god (worthy of worship) but God

I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of God

Come and pray

Come and flourish

God is Most Great

There is no god (worthy of worship) but God

In the unfolding of history, Islamic civilization has been one of humanity’s grandest achievements, a worldwide power founded simply on faith, a spiritual revolution that would shape the nations of 3 continents and launch an empire.

For the West much of the history of Islam has been obscured behind the veil of fear and misunderstanding yet Islam’s hidden history is deeply and surprisingly interwoven with western civilization

It was Muslim scholars who reclaimed the ancient wisdom of the Greeks while Europe languishes in the dark ages. It was they who sowed the seeds of the Renaissance 600 years before the birth of Leonardo Da Vinci. From the way we heal the sick to the numerals we used for counting, cultures across the globe have been shaped by Islamic civilization.

But all these began with the life of a single ordinary man and the profound message he proclaimed which changed the world forever.

His name was Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Guided by the Al Qur’aan which God Almighty revealed to him through the Archangel Gabriel, peace be upon him, Muhammad taught his companions that there is only one god, Allah, worthy of worship and that he, Muhammad, is His messenger and that Islam is the only way of life which God Almighty has perfected, completed His favour upon and decreed for Man.

Persecuted and constrained both physically and materially, Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, persisted for thirteen years to spread the words of God Almighty to his idol worshiping tribe, the Quraysh of Mecca. Slowly but surely, the number of followers to his teachings grew and spread to nearby Yathrib the city that eventually became known as Madinah, City of the Prophet.

In the thirteenth year of prophet hood, Muhammad was commanded by God Almighty to emigrate to Yathrib, where he set up the seat of Islam as a state and consolidated his position as Prophet and Messenger of Allah by spreading Islam to the whole of Arabia and the surrounding states.

Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away at the age of sixty three, in the twenty third year of his prophet hood.

The following is the sermon he gave to the people who accompanied him on his last pilgrimage to Mecca and known historically as Khutbatul Wada’, the Farewell Sermon, on the 9th day of Zul Hijjah 10 AH in the Uranah Valley at Mount Arafat.

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I don't know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, and this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds.

Allah has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived...

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have right over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to commit adultery.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

You know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim.

You are all equal. Nobody has superiority over other except by piety and good action.

Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you.

I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.

Be my witness O Allah that I have conveyed your message to your people."

God Almighty revealed verse 3 of Surah Al Maaidah on this same day, confirming this sermon of the prophet, “This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed my favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as your religion”.

Mixed Up Muslims!

A Muslim is a person who submits to the will of Allah, guided by the teachings of the al Qur'aan and the explanation of its verses by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the exemplary lifestyle he lead.
The al Qur’aan was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) by Allah the All Mighty in the form of recitations by Gabriel, the archangel and which Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) then repeated to his companions who memorized it and recorded it on to pieces of skins, bones and other forms of stationery used in those days.
This process of the revelation of the al Qur’aan begun when Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was forty years old and was completed a few months before the Prophet passed away.
Throughout the 23 years of his prophet hood, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) taught the Sahaabah, his companions, the chapters of the al Qur'aan as it was revealed to him; 10 years in Mecca, the city of his birth and 13 years in Madinah (formerly Yathrib) to which the Prophet emigrated upon the invitation of its leaders and commanded by Allah, The All Mighty.
During the occasion of his final pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca before his passing, the Prophet gave a sermon at Arafah, known in history as Khutbatul Weda' or Farewell Pilgrimage on the 9th day of the month of Zul Hijjah in the 10th year After Hijrah (AH):
The Last Sermon (Khutbatul Wada')
O People,
Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People,
Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners.

Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds.

Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.

Allah has judged that there shall be no usury (interest) and that all interest due to Abbas Ibn Abd al Muttalib (the Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived.

Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People,
It is true that you have certain rights in regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives, only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People,
Listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat.

Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action.

Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People,
No prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you.

I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah (Hadith), and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listened to me directly.

The prophet then asked the congregation if he had completed his mission to them. The answer was “YES!” The prophet repeated his question three times and each time the congregation answered “YES!”

Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.

This momentous event was underlined by the revelation of verse 3 in Suratul Maidah in which Allah proclaimed:

"This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as your religion Islam." (al Qur’aan ( Suratul Maidah) 5:3)

From these historical evidences, any sane person will have to conclude that the mission of the Prophet to teach and propagate Islam is complete and that the al Qur’aan is the ultimate guide to the way of life that will lead to success and happiness in this world and the hereafter, guaranteed by Allah the All Mighty as He, The All Mighty stated in the al Qur’aan:

1. “Show us the straight path, the path of those whom Thou hast favoured; Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.” (al Qur’aan (al Fatihah) 1 : 5-7)

2. “Lo! Allah disdaineth not to coin the similitude even of a gnat. Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord; but those who disbelieve say: What doth Allah wish (to teach) by such a similitude? He misleadeth many thereby, and He guideth many thereby; and He misleadeth thereby only miscreants; (al Qur’aan (al Baqarah) 2:26)

3. “How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and (after) they bore witness that the messenger is true and after clear proofs (of Allah’s sovereignty) had come unto them. And Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.” (al Qur’aan (Ali Imran) 3:86)

4. “What aileth you that ye are become two parties regarding the hypocrites, when Allah cast them back (to disbelief) because of what they earned? Seek ye to guide him whom Allah hath sent astray? He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him thou (O Muhammad) canst not find a road.” (al Qur’aan (An-Nisa) 4:88)

5. “Those who deny our revelations are deaf and dumb in darkness. Whom Allah will He sendth astray, and who He will He placeth on a straight path.” (al Qur’aan (Al An’am) 6:39)

6. “He whom Allah leadeth, he indeed is led aright, while he whom Allah sendeth astray – they indeed are losers.” (al Qur’aan (al A’raf) 7:178)

7. “Those whom Allah sendeth astray, there is no guide fpr them. He leaveth them to wander blindly on their contumacy.” (al Qur’aan (al A’raf) 7:186)

8. “Even if thou (O Muhammad) desirest their right guidance, still Allah assuredly will not guide him who misleadeth. Such have no helpers.” (al Qur’aan (an Nahl) 16:37)

9. “Had Allah willed He could have made you (all) one nation, but He sendeth whom He will astray and guideth whom He will, and ye will indeed be asked of what ye used to do.” (al Qur’aan (an Nahl) 16:93)

10. “Lo! Thou (O Muhammad) guidest not whom thou lovest, but Allah guideth whom He will. And He is best aware of those who walk aright.” (al Qur’aan (al Qasas) 28:56)

11. “Nay, but those who do wrong follow their own lusts without knowledge. Who is able to guide him whom Allah hath sent astray? For such there are no helpers.” (al Qur’aan (ar Rum) 30:29)

12. “Who hear advice and follow the best thereof, such are those whom Allah guideth, and such are men of understanding.” (al Qur’aan (az Zumar) 39:18)

13. “And as for Thamud, We gave them guidance, but they preferred blindness to the guidance, so the bolt of the doom of humulation overtook them because of what they used to earn.” (al Qur’aan ((Ha Mim As-Sajdah) 41:17)

14. “And they will have no protecting friend to help them instead of Allah. He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no road.” (al Qur’aan (as Shura) 42:46)

15. “We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a reminder unto mortals.” (al Qur’aan (al Muddaththir) 74:31)

Yet we have Muslims who insist on adding, innovating and re-interpreting the Message of the al Qur’aan according to their desires and ignoring the reminders and warnings of Allah, The All Mighty in the al Qur’aan and His Prophet, in the authentic Hadiths.

They created holidays commemorating the death of saintly and not so saintly persons, speaking to and seeking the help of the dead, circumambulating their graves and even sacrificing to the dead!

Seeing others celebrating the birth of their so-called gods, these mixed up Muslims, celebrate the Birthday of the Prophet, thinking that it is a good gesture that will be rewarded by Allah without realising the lack of precedent from the Sunnah of the Prophet, the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the Sahaabah for such deeds!

They copied the Jews (laknatullah), the Christians and even the pagans, in deeds that will lead to damnation in the fires of Hell throughout Eternity!

These mixed up Muslims follow blindly the practice of their leaders without understanding deeds that will nullify their Islam according to the al Qur’aan and the Sunnah of the Prophet.

The evidences are in abundance within the al Qur’aan and the Sunnah of the Prophet against all these.

Notwithstanding all the evidences against themselves, these mixed up Muslims blame all the differences between the Islam they practise upon that of the people of the birthplace of Islam itself; whom they called ‘Wahhabbis’ derisively!

Little do they realise the immense debt they owe to the so-called Wahhabbis who had brought Islam back to the rightful practise of the Sunnah of the Prophet, the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the Sahaabah of the Prophet; to pray within a single congregation behind a single imam at the Ka’abah!
